VAREB-IT


This composition contains rabeprazole and itopride which is used together to treat gastroesophageal reflux disease and peptic ulcers. Here reduces the amount of acid and itopride act as prokinetic which controls by acting in brain.

Rabeprazole is known as proton pump inhibitor which is prodrug before administration and only got activated after reaching to the acidic environment.

Itopride belongs to the dopamine receptor antagonist class and it also exhibits acetylcholinesterase actions. It increases the movement of stomach and intestine and ease the movement of food.

Mechanism of action-

Rabeprazole inhibits the H+K+ATPase pump present on the surface of parietal cell and thus inhibit the gastric acid secretion.
Itopride blocks the D2 receptors by binding with it and along with it also removes the acetylcholine activity.
